This is a personal news aggregator, put up on the internet so that I view it on my phone.

Who are you?

I am a semi-retired engineer that has nothing to do with journalism.

Why are you doing this?

Having worked on websites and web services for 20+ years, it's painfully obvious to me that the primary incentive of the modern internet, to drive as many clicks and ad views as possible, is antithetical to what one might think news media companies should do: deliver information.

Journalists do need to make a living, but the internet has lulled us into accepting inconveniences far beyond the back page of newspapers, and media companies laid off hundreds of journalists anyway.

I built this with the goal of reversing incentives and dark patterns common among news sites, and delivering as much information as possible in as few clicks and views as possible.

No, but I am trying to streamline everything standing between journalists, open source data, and the reader. Please support independent journalism.
